Parc National du Mont-Megantic has two peaks, both accessible by car (they are the highest points in Quebec accessible by road). Mont St-Joseph (1065 m) has the more impressive views (above) while Mont Megantic (1105 m) has an astronomy center (Astrolab) open to the public. These mountains, among the highest peaks in the Eastern Townships, have some great hikes and fantastic views.
The Astrolab, on Mont Megantic, is the largest astronomical observatory in Eastern North America. Operated jointly by McGill University, Université de Montréal, and Université Laval, it is also open to the public; you can tour the observatory and see the 1.6 meter telescope as well as interactive displays, a high definition movie, and some multimedia presentations.
