Brazil hotels

ABRAAO, ILHA GRANDE: Pousada Naturelia. 2007 review – mid-range – 4.5 stars out of 5.

On TripAdvisor:

A little walk from town, but a great location off the beach with wonderful views in a beautiful setting. Comfortable rooms, AC, very good breakfast, nice owner. Just ignore him when he recommends the hike to the beach of Dos Rios.

FOZ DE IGUACU: The San Martin Resort and Hotel. 2007 review – mid-range – 3 ½ stars out of 5. Large hotel, impersonal, nice pool. Worth it because of the location.

On Tripadvisor:

A large resort with about 150 rooms and a perfect location to explore the Brazilian side of the falls – about 4 km from the Iguacu airport and 500 meters from the entrance of the Iguazu Falls National Park.

PARATY: Pousado do Principe. 2007 review – mid-range – 4 stars out of 5.

On Tripadvisor:

It was fine for a couple of days, nice pool. The exterior more impressive than the interior, rooms a bit old and dark. Could use a bit of sprucing up but still overall a decent place.

RIO DE JANEIRO: Sol Ipanema. 2007 review – Expensive – 3 stars out of 5 because of poor service and value for money.

On Tripadvisor:

Damn expensive with rooms averaging around $260 USD/night. I usually don’t splurge that much on a hotel. Great location, great room, nice rooftop, really lousy service (grouchy, miserable employees). One of those hotels priced as a 5 star but in reality is just a touch above mid-range. Just not worth that kind of money!
