GUANAJUATO: Casa de la Luna. 2013 review – budget – 3 ½ out of 5

A comfortable guesthouse with rooms on two floors (500 pesos/nt, about $41 including breakfast). The guesthouse has a few longterm guests studying Spanish at the university and the dining area is a great place to make conversation with fellow travellers Ana is like a mom and Lado loves to joke with the guests. Nothing fancy, and some of the emenities could use sprucing up, but the rooms are large and clean.

MEXICO CITY: Hotel Rioja. 2013 review – budget – 4 ½ out of 5

Just a great value. 250 to 300 pesos for a room (that’s $21 – $25). Fantastic location. Not the Ritz but if all you need is a clean room with private bathroom then it is perfect. I would use this place anytime in Mexico City.

Large hotel, great inner courtyard, fantastic central location. Rooms basic but clean – had some issues with noise. Good value (450 pesos – about $40) and I would recommend for a short stay.
