3 days in San Francisco
I love San Francisco.
We were here 3 days for one of Lissette’s conferences. The first day we visited Alcatraz and the Coit tower. The next 2 days I had to myself so I rented a bike and cycled around the city, visiting its parks and crossing the Golden Gate to Saulsalito.
The geography of the city is amazing, the parks spectacular. The city reminded me in many ways of Vancouver. At night we would go to cool bars and restaurants and try out Californian wines. We found the city multi-cultural, the people friendly.
Top 10 Things to See and Do in San Francisco
- Walk the Golden Gate bridge
- Visit Alcatraz
- See the Waterfront at Fisherman’s Wharf
- Go up the Coit Tower
- Explore Golden Gate Park
- See Union Square, the commercial hub of the city
- See amazing views at the Land’s End Lookout
- Ride a Cable Car
- Go to Chinatown
- See crazy Lombard Street
If you can, rent a bike and explore the city as I did. Or take a tour. This bike Tour takes you on the same route that I took to Sausalito.
So is this the most beautiful city in the World? As far as natural beauty it ranks up there with Cape Town, Rio de Janeiro, Hong Kong, and Vancouver.
Accommodation: We stayed at the 4 Star Omni San Francisco. Excellent. If looking for something more budget conscious, the Infinity Hotel SF is a great choice.
Organized Tours: I recommend this San Francisco Ultimate City Tour.
Flights: the main airport is San Francisco International Airport (airport code: SFO)
What’s your favorite city? And which city do you think it the most beautiful in the world?

I need to go back to properly visit San Francisco. I too was there while attending a conference and really only had time to go to Pier 39. I loved how all the seals gather on the platforms there though!
I really like the shot with the tanker underneath the bridge, it really gives you perspective on how big The Golden Gate actually is.
Thanks Devlin – yeah, got lucky with the timing.
Trams would be top of my list!
Looks like a great 3 day getaway in SF – nice resource you’ve crafted here. Kudos.
